We don't do much showing anymore but once in a while you will see us in the show ring. Our main focus is now on our breeding program, to produce wonderful quality Morgans and Friesians. In 2023, I hope to have a Moresian on the for sale page. Plan is to breed our Friesian Mare Kyra to our homozygous black stallion Cruise for a 2023 foal. I am very excited for this cross. Besides the breeding program and working with the youngsters to get them initially trained so they can move on to their forever homes, I enjoy taking the horses to various parks to go riding on the equine trails with my sisters. Horses have been part of our lives, our entire lives, and we plan to keep it that way!!!
Iowa Horse Fair 2017
March 31 thru April 2 2017, my sisters and I all took horses and participated in a wonderful Morgan demo at the Iowa Horse Fair. We did this in 2016 as well. Since all 4 of us love and own multiple Morgans, it is a time away from our husbands and kids, a true girls weekend out!!! Our oldest sister lives in Illinois and the 3 of us all live in southwest Iowa so Des Moines is a perfect middle spot to meet. Pictures and video to be loaded soon!!!
Ord Schooling Show May 2016
In May, I took Cruise, Heart and Total E to the Morgan Schooling Show in Ord, NE. This is a show our club puts on every year. I have been several times before but not for many years. This was Heart's first show. She did a very nice job. Total E has not been to a show for 9 years and only came because Tinkerbell would not get in the trailer!! So, since I had paid already for 3 stalls......someone was coming!! haaa..........Above is the fun Cruise and I had at this show. I have jumped Cruise for fun at home. We rarely ever ride hunt set but we did this time. We practiced once at home and we haven't jumped for a few years. Had a great time. Cruise who is nearly 16h tall apparently thought he had to jump an additional 5 feet to make sure he cleared these little jumps!! I have an old saddle and an even older saddle pad so yes, the saddle did slide back. All was fine though. He is such an awesome horse!!!
In December of 2014 Loess Hills Pure Elegance, who was sold to a family friend 3 years ago, was reacquired by Loess Hills Morgans and has found her way back home. Elle was the last foal by our beloved stallion Chance. We are thrilled to have her back with plans for her to be here for many more years. She is a great riding horse and she may be bred to our black stallion Cruise at some point. Between the two of them we should get a 16H black sport horse type. We will see!!!
NEBRASKA HORSE EXPO
November 15 - 17, I took Cruise to the NE Horse Expo in Lincoln, NE. We participated all 3 days in our morgan club demo and we also were part of a 4 member team that competed in the Battle of the Breeds. The Morgans won that competition! MORGAN POWER!!! It was a ton of fun. In the Battle of the Breeds, Cruise competed in pleasure riding, Jumping (yes over jumps), and the figure 8 race in which we got 4th place and until that event, he had never been exposed to racing or going around barrels! We carried the American flag every day at the end of our Morgan demo. He is a great horse with loads of personality and versatility!

I also took Promises to the expo in 2013. Standing still is not one of his strong suites so on Sunday, we waited until it was our time to display English Pleasure and we came into the ring on a strong and showy trot. Our song was "Puttin on the Ritz" which is exactly what Promises did. He loves to show off and he was a definite crowd pleaser! He is so fun to ride in this type of an environment but you better have some glue on your hiney so you stay on!
Cruise on an outing....
On June 30, 2013, Kim and Tom took Cruise to a 4-H show in Lincoln, NE. Youth members of our Morgan Club were putting on a Morgan breed demo during the lunch hour and we were asked to participate. This was Cruise's first "show" outing under saddle and also being shown out of the trailer, which requires "Patience"!!! He did a super job and we had a great time! Lots of looks from people and comments on how beautiful he is. Way to go Cruise!!! Thanks to Tom for his photography help!!!
A new edition to the breeding shed!
JLH Bellasarius, by Forevermore.... a Beamington son, and out of a Duke of Wynne daughter, this exciting stallion brings another dimension to our breeding! A special Thank You goes out to Renee Page of Silver Maple Stables for allowing us the opportunity to stand this talented stallion! Check him out on Our Stallions page! ***UPDATE*** Bell is no long breeding. He will be 24 in 2022. His health is good and he is still the kind, beautiful and gentle natured stallion he has always been. He will live out the rest of his days here.
Morgans on Parade!
Loess Hills Chances R and I as we await the start
On Labor Day, Sept. 3, 2012.... my two sisters and a family friend and I took to the streets of Essex, Iowa and brought up the rear of the Labor Day Parade.... saving "the best for last"!! We try to participate in some of the local events, and this is always a big parade with streets lined 8-10 people deep down both sides! We really enjoyed the day, we were glad it clouded over long enough to cool it down for the parade, and waited to rain until after it was done! Thanks to everyone for such a good time!!
